An (extraordinary) meeting has been called up last August to change some statutaire articles in order to joint the new Portuguese Export Bureau which is due to be created in November. A new plan of activities for the year 2008-2009 has been approved as well. Both documents will be posted online soon.

Decorreu em Guimarães, entre 20 e 23 de Fevereiro, a 4ª edição dos “Encontros Alcultur”, um fórum de discussão e avaliação do estado das artes em Portugal, este ano subordinado ao tema “Cultura, Emprego, Economia”.
Os “Encontros” de Guimarães, realizados nas instalações do renovado centro “Vila-Flor”, estavam organizados em torno de duas sessões plenárias e cinco sessões temáticas, para além de duas conferências e duas sessões paralelas de âmbito nacional: uma de autarcas com pelouros da cultura e outra de directores de teatros. Paralelamente às sessões, a programação incluía ainda a feira “Expocultura” e os “showcases” de artistas de diversas áreas (música, teatro e dança). De acordo com as inscrições registadas, teriam passado por Guimarães cerca de 350 participantes.
A Associação MUSICA PT / APMP, representada por Rui Mota, participou na sessão temática “Estímulos e Constrangimentos à Circulação Artística”, onde foram abordados diversos aspectos da divulgação e  promoção da Música Portuguesa no estrangeiro, levada a cabo pela nossa Associação.
De registar ainda, a presença de um “stand” da empresa “Algarpalcos”, membro fundador da MUSICA PT, na feira “Expocultura”.

As in past years Musica PT is collecting associates activities data relating portuguese artists acting abroad (years range: 2006 - 2007). Musica PT expects to present this data during next month.

Another edition of WOMEX (World Music Expo), the most important worldmusic trade fair at international level, has been held in Seville (Spain)  between the 24 and 28 of October.The Association of Music Producers of Portugal (APMP) was represented by MUSICA PT, with a pavillion where the agencies Aduf, Algarpalcos, Atlantic Waves, Espanta Espíritos, HM-Música, Magic Music, Ocarina, Uguru, Vachier & Associados, had their own stand. This was the biggest representation ever of APMP/MUSICA PT an association of  16 members that represent more than 50 portuguese artists.

An important number of portuguese exhibitors attended this 14th WOMEX, already considered the biggest edition ever.  According to the official list there were more than twenty portugueses agencies and artists in Seville this year, including the portuguese traditional musical group “Gaiteiros de Lisboa” that was selected to perform at of the “showcases”. A final note to point out the portuguese juri member, Rui Mota from MUSICA PT, that helped to select the groups and conferencies at the Fair

The Portuguese band "Gaiteiros de Lisboa" (new traditional), has been selected for WOMEX2007 showcases, among more than 650 candidates from different continents.
Given the exposure granted by the event - the major "worldmusic" trade fair in the World - this is an excellent opportunity of being seen by the international press and venue programmeurs present in Seville.

For the first time in 12 editions, a Portuguese personality has been invited to take part in the jury charged of selecting the showcases acts and conferencies at the next WOMEX (Seville).
The chosen juri's member is Rui Mota, a founding member of MUSICA PT and a well known promoter of Portuguese music abroad.
This appointment confirms the international recognition and general acceptance of MUSICA PT in the past two years, since we first appeared at Newcastle 2005 tradefair.
