Womex Portuguese “Samurai”
The next WOMEX edition will be held in Seville (Spain) from 24th till 28th of October. This is the most important worldmusic's trade fair in the world and it will be held for the 13th time in its history.Womex
Started in Berlin, in 1994, by Piranha Records and the European Forum of Global Music Festivals, the fair has been growing since: from 500 delegates and 100 "stands" in its first edition to more than 2500 delegates and 500 "stands" in 2006. The organizers are expecting a record in 2007 with more than 3000 delegates in the biggest event ever!
Following Newcastle (2005) and Seville (2006) our Association will be again in Seville with 4 stands, under the umbrella's name MUSICA PT. New members can apply to participate in the "stands". See conditions in the "site" MUSICA PT (link "docs").
For the first time in twelve editions, a Portuguese member has been invited to join the jury in charge of choosing the 40 "acts" that will be performing at WOMEX showcases. The Portuguese "samurai" is Rui Mota, a well known festival programmeur and actual president of APMP (MUSICA PT).
Gaiteiros de Lisboa
This Portuguese band (new traditional music) has been selected to perform at the “showcases” of Womex. Date and venue: 27 October 2007, 10pm, at Lope de Vega Theater in Seville.
Portuguese Participation
Portuguese participation at WOMEX this year is expected to break all previous records. More than twenty delegates among individuals and companies will be present in Seville.
The growing popularity of WOMEX and the geographical proximity to Seville are the main reasons to explain this boom.

"Sulitânia", the new  album of Ronda dos Quatro Caminhos will be released in October The album brings traditional themes from Southern Portugal regions, Beira Baixa and Baixo Alentejo, masterly executed by Ronda´s musicians, the percussion group Adufeiras de Monsanto and the choirs Coro Guadiana de Mértola and Coro Polifónico Eborae Musica.
